Watermark only some pages of a PDF
You don’t always want a watermark on every page. A cover page, a signature page or an appendix often looks better without it. In Watermark PDF you choose a range of PDF pages, and only those pages get the watermark.
Steps
- Open the PDF in Watermark PDF and set up the watermark text and style.
- Under Pages, choose “PDF page range”.
- Enter the start and end page. For example, start on PDF page 3 and end on PDF page 7.
- Check the preview. Pages 3 to 7 show the watermark; the other pages are shown slightly faded and have none.
- Press Add Watermark. The new PDF has the watermark on pages 3 to 7 only.
PDF pages, not printed page numbers
The range counts the pages of the file as it is: the first page in the file is PDF page 1, whatever number is printed on it. If a report starts with a cover and a table of contents, the page printed “1” may be PDF page 3. The preview labels each page with its PDF page number, so you can read the range off the screen.
If the range is not valid
The start page must be 1 or later, the end page can’t be beyond the last page, and the start can’t come after the end. If one of these happens, the field is marked, a short message says what is wrong, and the preview shows no watermark until the range is fixed. Nothing is saved with a half-valid range.
More than one range
A single pass covers one continuous range. To mark two separate parts — say pages 3 to 7 and 12 to 15 — add the watermark to the first range, then open the new file and add it to the second range. Each pass keeps everything the previous one added.
Good to know
- Same look on every page in the range. Position, angle, size and opacity are measured on each page as you see it, so landscape and rotated pages in the range get the same placement.
- Your original stays as it was. The watermarked file is a new PDF called yourfile-watermarked.pdf.
- The file stays on your device. The PDF is processed in your browser and isn’t uploaded to app.zone’s servers.
